We do not recommend online training hours for civil mediators because civil mediators really do not need any mediation training hours in order to conduct civil mediations in Louisiana. The practice of civil mediation is unregulated. Stated differently, civil mediators in Louisiana are not required to have any training hours at all. The key to conducting civil mediations in Louisiana is to convince the parties that you have the skills and experience necessary to assist them to resolve their disputes.

But to serve as a court appointed mediator in civil cases, generally, one has be a lawyer licensed to practice in any state for at least five years and have completed a minimum of forty hours of mediation training.
